Steamed Paneer Momo

Momo's in India have taken the notch up with the variety and flavor variations that can be stuffed in the dumpling. It's become a street food that every individual enjoys.

Serves 6 people (12 buns)

Tips

Momo can be stored in the freezer for upto 2 weeks.

To be steamed directly out of the freezer. DO NOT thaw before steaming.

Can be served with dipping sauce of your choice.

Folds can vary according to the ease of the maker.



Ingredients

For the coating:

  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder

  • 1½ cup Maida

  • 1tbsp chilli flakes

  • 1tsp salt

  • water if needed

For the filling:

  • 250 gms paneer

  • ½ cup carrot

  • 1tbsp chop garlic

  • 2 nos green chilli

  • 2 tbsp red chilli sauce

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • Salt to taste

  • 6 to 7 soaked kashmiri chillies (whole)

  • ½ cup coriander stems

  • Spring onion greens

Preparation

  1. Knead a tight dough and rest for 30 mins.

  2. In a food processor or mixer grinder add all the ingredients except spring onion greens and blend together in a paste.

  3. Refrigerate for 20 / 25 mins.

  4. Divide the dough in tiny 10 / 12 gms dough balls and keep covered under a damp cloth.

  5. Roll the dough into a paper thin circle and fill with ¾ tsp of filling. (remember to keep enough dough for the fold)

  6. Fold in desired shape and steam for 8 mins in a steamer.

  7. Serve piping hot.
