Flavourings in the spread can vary and spice level can be controlled according to preference.
It can be shaped into smaller round braids as well and be baked in a muffin tray for individual portionings .
Ingredients
1½ tbsp dry yeast
2½ cup maida
1tbsp sugar
½ cup milk
1tsp salt
1 egg
water if needed
¼ cup soft butter
2tbsp chopped garlic
½ tsp paprika powder
Salt to taste
1 tbsp chop green chillies
Chop coriander
Preparation
Activate yeast in 2tbsp water and sugar (takes about 15mins)
Add the rest of the ingredients and knead into a soft dough and rest in a warm place covered with a damp cloth.
Melt butter with garlic, paprika, chillies and coriander and mix them all well.
Once double and light knock down and roll into a flat round keeping a ¼ inch thickness.
Spread the garlic butter keeping 1 cm dough around the edges.
Roll into a tight roll. Cut it lengthwise into 4 parts.(be careful to not disturb the layers). Braid it and keep aside for proofing again until doubled.
Bake at 180 c for 20 mins until gold.
